Singapore's Wealth Management Institute Launches CHIEF Program for Asia Pacific Philanthropy Leaders

Singapore, September 16, 2024 - The Wealth Management Institute WMI, at the opening of the Global-Asia Family Office Summit, launched Changemaker Impact eavour Fellowship Programme CHIEF. This pioneering initiative in Asia empower funders, social entrepreneurs, and nonprofit leaders with transformative capabilities to become impactful changemakers.

As Asia Pacific prepares for an estimated USD 5.8 trillion wealth transfer by 2030 - a phenomenon often referred to as the Great Wealth Transfer a new generation of younger and more diverse philanthropists emerges, seeking innovative approaches to tackle complex regional and global challenges. Consequently, strategic philanthropy is expected to grow, emphasizing the need for new skills and capabilities within the sector.

Aligned with Singapore's aspiration to become a leading philanthropy hub, the Asia Centre for Changemakers ACC was established this year by Temasek Trust and Philanthropy Asia Alliance with SGD 15 million in funding. This launch complements ACC’s suite of philanthropy-focused initiatives med at trning over 1,000 wealth owners, social innovators, and philanthropic professionals by 2028.

ACC is dedicated to redefine philanthropy in Asia through equipping leaders with the skills and strategic insights needed to drive meaningful impact, sd Ms. Foo Mee Har, CEO of WMI. Our vision is for CHIEF programme to be a catalyst that fosters a community of like-minded changemakers capable of addressing the region's most pressing challenges.

The comprehensive seven-month CHIEF program encourages participants to reimagine capital purpose, explore the impact landscape, assess project viability and scalability, and delve into suitable financialtlored to various contexts.

In collaboration with London School of Economics Marshall Institute, known for its 100x Impact Accelerator supporting new generation social unicorns, Stephan Chambers, Director of Marshall Institute at LSE, expressed his excitement in partnership: We're thrilled to partner with WMI in designing the innovative CHIEF Programme. By merging our pedagogy, research capabilities, and convening power, we anticipate inspiring and nurturing a new cohort of changemakers poised to introduce solutions with greater sustnability impact.

In addition to LSE's world-class curriculum, participants will also learn from global pioneers like Jed Emerson of Total Portfolio Managementa framework that optimizes diversified financial returns while maximizing social impactand Chris Hounshell, who advocates for the Economics of Mutuality concept. This idea underscores that when a business invests in its communities, people, and environmental ecosystem, it generates superior value including financial performance.

The CHIEF program offers an unprecedented opportunity to explore sustnable seaweed-based packaging solutions through equity fundrsing worth over USD 25 million led by Notpla, a compming to replace over 100 million units of single-use plastics.
